Adopted Children
Upon reaching the summit of a mountain, it is normal that we sit down to contemplate the view. The one we have before us today is the most beautiful, infinite, and permanent. The Trinity is life and a mystery. To paraphrase St. Paul we can say: "Neither the eye has seen, nor the ear heard, nor are there words to describe the immensity of God."
Sisters and brothers:
1. Throughout the liturgical year we see God in his expressions of tenderness, mercy, and the holocaust in its various epiphanies. Today we look at itself, in its essence. The liturgy brings us to the mystery of the intimate life of God, who fills the heavens with his omnipresence, has the humility to send his disciples to the ends of the earth to preach and baptize in his name. A distant God he may seem, but who else could say that the Creator has become one like us? By the incarnation, he introduces us to the mystery of his life to such an extent that we can respond to Him in familiar terms.
2. The soul inhabited by the Holy Trinity is a reality that we must discover and illuminate in our lives. In addition, this leads us to the perfect union with God and to the service of others. St. Teresa of Jesus describes our soul as an "interior castle" that is wonderful and luminous and that Jesus advises us: "Be perfect as your Father is perfect in heaven." We are all called to holiness. A saint is capable of everything because he takes God in his heart and God gives him the strength needed for all the heroism, martyrdoms, apostolic actions, and the contemplation of love.
3. The Church is the family of the adopted children of God, and one of the things revealed to us is the mystery of the Trinity, is that God is a community of love - a family. That is why the Bible uses three words: Father, Son, and Love, in some way to express the mystery of the Divine life.
If I ask: What do we as Christians believe? You respond: "I believe in one God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth." And also He is the creator of man, his masterpiece, placed in the center of this cosmic greatness. He is a son with the Son. This is the miracle that takes place in baptism: It makes us adopted children of God, brothers of Jesus Christ, heirs of heaven, and members of the Church. A new village is born of the Trinitarian mystery that we celebrate today.
Religious ignorance is often the cause of many defections in the faith. It will be a good intention in the light of this solemnity, those seeking ways to learn more about their faith: spirituality courses, schools of prayer, study of Church documents, information on current ecclesial selected readings, and training through other secular movements. "Hijos e Hijas adoptivos"
Al llegar a la cumbre de una montaña es normal que nos sentemos a contemplar el panorama. El que tenemos hoy ante nuestros ojos es el más bello, infinito, permanente. La Trinidad es vida y misterio. Parafraseando a San Pablo podemos decir: "Ni el ojo vio, ni el oído oyó, ni hay palabras para describir la inmensidad de Dios".
1. A lo largo de todo el año litúrgico nos hemos acercado a Dios en sus manifestaciones de ternura, de misericordia, de holocausto y en sus diversas epifanías. Hoy lo miramos en sí mismo, en su esencia. La liturgia nos acerca al misterio de la vida íntima de Dios que, aunque llena el cielo con su omnipresencia, tiene la humildad de enviar a sus discípulos hasta los confines de la tierra para que prediquen y bauticen en su nombre. Parece un Dios lejano, pero ¿Quién más podría decir que su Creador se ha hecho uno como nosotros? Por la encarnación nos introduce en el misterio de su vida hasta tal punto que podemos acudir a Él en términos familiares.
2. El alma habitada por la Santísima Trinidad, es una realidad que hemos de descubrir y que ilumina toda nuestra vida. Además nos lleva a la perfecta unión con Dios y al servicio del prójimo. Santa Teresa de Jesús describe esta inhabitación como un "castillo interior" espléndido y luminoso y Jesús nos aconseja: "Sed perfectos, como perfecto es vuestro Padre del cielo". Todos hemos sido llamados a la santidad. El santo es capaz de todo porque lleva a Dios en su corazón y Él le da la fuerza necesaria para todos los heroísmos, todos los martirios, todas las acciones apostólicas, todas las contemplaciones de amor.
3. La Iglesia es la familia de los hijos adoptivos de Dios, y una de las cosas que nos revela el misterio de la Trinidad es que Dios es una comunidad de amor, es decir, una familia. Por eso la Biblia usa tres palabras: Padre, Hijo, Amor, para expresar de algún modo el misterio de la vida divina.
Si pregunto ¿En qué creemos, los cristianos? Ustedes responden: "Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, creador del cielo y de la tierra". Y también creador del hombre, su obra maestra, colocado en el centro de esta grandeza cósmica. Es hijo con el Hijo. Este es el prodigio que se realiza en el bautismo: Nos hace hijos adoptivos de Dios, hermanos de Jesucristo, herederos del cielo, miembros de la Iglesia. Un pueblo nuevo que nace del misterio trinitario que hoy celebramos.
La ignorancia religiosa suele ser la causa de muchas defecciones en la fe. Será un buen propósito a la luz de esta fiesta, buscar aquellas actividades de formación que nos ayuden a conocer mejor nuestra fe: Cursos de espiritualidad, escuelas de oración, estudio de los documentos de la Iglesia, informativos sobre la actualidad eclesial, lecturas selectas, formación continua a través de los movimientos seglares etc. Hacer nuestra la pregunta de Pedro: "¿A quién iremos, Señor, si sólo tú tienes palabras de vida eterna?".
